Dripping Springs Fair and Rodeo Announces Its Royals
The scoring was based on an application and interview process. Criteria also included that the Queen had to be a Freshman, Sophomore, or Junior in High School and the Princess must be in 6th, 7th, or 8th grade. Both the Queen and Princess were required to be a member of 4-H Club or FFA Club in Hays County.
Twining is a ninth grade student and very active in Dripping Springs 4-H Club. In addition, she is a Texas 4-H Equine Ambassador, board member for the Dripping Springs Relay for Life, and heavily involved in her church. She says “4-H has been an amazing and wonderful blessing in my life and I would love nothing more than to help promote that for other kids and help promote rodeoing which is also near and dear to my heart.”
Alba is a middle school student and involved in Junior FFA and 4-H Club. She also participates in theater and is a former reporter of Hays County 4-H Shooting Sports Team. Alba is proud to have won Reserve Champion Hereford Steer at Rodeo Austin in 2009. She said showing livestock has taught her responsibility, time management, team building skills, and how to care for animals.
Kirkey has donated over 250 volunteer hours to DS Ag Boosters, 4-H, FFA, Hill Country Senior Citizens Thrift Shop, Hill Country Care, and the Dr. Joseph Historical Farmstead Museum. Also a middle school student, Kirkey is a Council Delegate with 4-H.
Schwiening is a high school student and actively involved in High School Rodeo Association, Dripping Springs 4-H Club, Dripping Springs FFA, Hays County 4-H Club, Dripping Springs Young Life and her church. She is proud to have won 2013-2014 All-Around Grand Champion Saddle at Hays County at Hays County 4-H Horse Show and 2013-2014 State 4-H Horse Show 10th Place in Pole Bending.
The Royal Court recently made their first appearance at the Dripping Springs Founders Day Festival grand parade to promote the upcoming DSFR.
